"Slavery is a weed that grows on every soil" Edmund Burke

Alex HYATT plays Olaudau EQUIANO the ardent 18th century abolishionist.

Alex has acted before so this is not a new experience for him.  He has had small parts in TV shows  and he has a real passion for drama and the arts.  Hopefully this play will be the first of many with the Mixed Blessings Theatre Group.

David AITCHISON plays the First Earl of Mansfield William MURRAY who presided over the Somerset Case in the 1700s.

David was one of the first young actor's on board when it was decided to take this play to the stage.  He is actively seeking a career as an actor and has already done many shows.  He has a passion for musicals and he wants our next endeavour to be a musical, which is a possibility so watch this space.

Hannah CURRY is the youngest member of the group, but she is one of the most valued members as she is our stage hand come resident photographer! A lot of the photos that you will see on this website have been taken by Hannah, she makes sure she gets her shot.

Hannah has performed in St Andrews Primary School Plays which have included Joseph, The Witches, and Scrooge, she played a Munchkin in The Wizard of Oz at Worthing Congress Theatre and she has danced in the children's festival at Hove Town Hall. She has also sung in the Christmas Schools festival at Brighton Centre and she has even tried Indian dancing at Hove Town Hall.

Mike DARNELL Long suffering Director of Let Justice Be Done.

Maureen HICKS Principal writer of the play who is still trying to work out how she got involved in this project in the first place.

Bigography to follow.

Suchi CHATTERJEE Secondary writer and costume and props manager who does not believe in photos, however she has a great passion for the Goddess Kali, also known as the Darkmother, hence the image rather than than no photo at all.

Geoff JAMES Stage Manager - has been involved in many stage productions over the years, even whilst he was a serving police oficer. His involvement with the Mixed Blessings Theatre Group came about when his friend Maureen HICKS asked him if he wanted to help, he is now wondering why on earth he said yes but we are very lucky to have him and he certainly knows what he is doing which we are profoundly grateful for.

Tammy WELLS was one of the first people to volunteer to help with the play in the early days before it was bought to the stage, she plays Lady Elizabeth LINDSAY, cousin to Dido Elizabeth BELLE, a part that she has worked really hard on, in fact Tammy was one of the first cast members to learn her lines thus pushing everyone else in the group to follow suite.

Parveen KAUR plays Maria BELLE, ghost, narrator and mother of Dido Elizabeth BELLE.

Parveen is actually a Indian classical dancer, however she does have an interest in acting, she is an avid fan of Bollywood and she could possibly be doing films in that genre in the near future.

Anna MANNION plays Dido Elizabeth Belle, great- niece to the Earl of Mansfield and daughter to Maria BELLE.

Anna came on board through a friend of a friend, and we are very lucky to have her. She has done some acting in her home town of Sligo and she has a great interest in drama, however she was a bit worried about playing Dido Elizabeth BELLE but we knew she was ideal for the part, and we are so glad she agreed to take it on.

Sebastian Louis KINDER plays Nicholas DUKE, an American plantation owner, his part is especially difficult becausee Mr DUKE is pro-slavery and therefore by proxy a racist though in the 18th century his attitude would not be seen as being racist.

Seb is one of the youngest members of the cast at 17, however he has a lot of experience and for this we are greatful.  He's more than likely going to go full time drama school and I think he will go far.

Genna MILLAR comes to us from Allsorts, and she has been thrown in at the deep end, not only has she got a pivitol role to play in Captain John LINSDSAY, she has to potray a wayward father who is not able to face his illigitimate daughter.
